UIRC Roadshow at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia: A Stepping Stone for Young Researchers
Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) recently hosted the University-Industry Research Consortium (UIRC) Roadshow, continuing its mission to foster collaboration between academia and industry. The event, held at the university’s Faculty of Science and Technology, drew enthusiastic participation from students and faculty members, underscoring the growing interest in limestone karst studies.
Led by Professor Emeritus Dato' Dr. Ibrahim Komoo, the event emphasised the growing significance of limestone karst studies while showcasing scholarship opportunities and grants that support emerging researchers in this field.
A notable lecture on archaeology was delivered by Professor Dato' Dr. Mokhtar Saidin, whom is an esteemed expert in archaeology, Chairperson of the National Geopark Executive Committee, and one of three subject matter experts on the UIRC Scientific Committee. During his lecture, he shared valuable insights and personal experiences from his work in archaeology, sparking students' curiosity in an engaging Q&A session.
Launched by YTL Cement and the Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE), the UIRC Roadshow represents a significant collaboration between academic institutions and industry stakeholders. This initiative is designed to advance research in tropical limestone karst landscapes in Malaysia while cultivating a new generation of skilled researchers committed to sustainable development.
