Continuing our Commitment to Nature: Greening and Cleaning Langkawi
Our Langkawi team once again rolled up their sleeves for a meaningful cause, this time combining efforts in tree planting and a beach clean-up to continue championing sustainability and community engagement on the island.
On 15 May, a tree planting programme was held at the Housing B area within the Langkawi plant premises, in collaboration with Tabika KEMAS Kedah Cement. A total of 46 Merawan Siput Jantan trees (part of last year’s donation from the Forestry Department) were planted to help enrich the environment along the main entrance of the housing site. The activity saw the participation of students and teachers, Housing B residents, and our fellow Langkawi plant employees, reflecting a strong spirit of collaboration and care for the environment. The involvement of the students in particular brought a lively energy to the morning as they learned first-hand about the value of trees in supporting our ecosystem.

Highlights from the Beach Clean-Up
Continuing the momentum, the team gathered again on 17 May at Pengkalan Nelayan Pasir Hitam for a beach clean-up initiative, working together with the Trash Hero Langkawi team. Volunteers from across the community including our employees, their families, local residents, and Trash Hero representatives came together and collected nearly 300kg of trash during the clean-up effort. The collection ranged from plastic bottles and ropes to styrofoam, slippers, clothing, and even discarded lighters.
Both activities are part of the Langkawi Plant team’s ongoing mission to give back to the community while preserving the island’s natural beauty. With more sustainability-themed initiatives in the pipeline, the team remains committed to environmental stewardship, one tree and one beach at a time.
