First UIRC Symposium Tropical Karst Landscape: Challenges for Conservation and Sustainable Use Symposium
The University-Industry Research Consortium (UIRC), a partnership between YTL Cement and the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE), held its first Tropical Karst Landscape: Challenges for Conservation and Sustainable Use Symposium on 23 December 2024.
Second University-Industry Research Consortium (UIRC) Scientific Committee Meeting
The University-Industry Research Collaboration (UIRC) convened for the second Scientific Committee Meeting to set the agenda for research and collaboration for the year ahead. Building on the successes of prior initiatives and support from the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE), the meeting brought together esteemed members of academia and representatives from MOHE to review 2024 activities, endorse research grants, and refine plans for upcoming events.
Celebrating Sustainability at the BUILDS Recycling Open Day 2024
The BUILDS Recycling Open Day 2024, held at Wisma YTL Cement in Petaling Jaya, marked the grand finale of YTL Cement’s BUILDS Recycling Campaign 2024. Launched as part of the Group’s ongoing sustainability efforts, this year’s campaign expanded nationwide, engaging employees across all plants to collectively surpass the ambitious target of collecting 10,000kg of recyclables.

The Langkawi Plant team and The Penang Port Commission (PPC) jointly organised the Program Penghijauan Sempena Hari Alam Sekitar Negara 2024 on 22 October 2024.

First University-Industry Research Consortium (UIRC) Steering Committee Meeting Sets Strategic Direction
The UIRC recently held its first Steering Committee Meeting, approving several significant initiatives of the research consortium. The UIRC, launched by YTL Cement and the Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE) in 2023, represents a landmark partnership between universities and industries. Over the next five years, the UIRC will provide scholarships to up to 40 Master’s and PhD students, supporting research endeavours focused on the sustainability of tropical limestone karst landscapes in Malaysia.

Our Langkawi Plant team recently organised a first aid training session for local teachers from Langkawi schools. The training was conducted by Power Solutions Training Management PLT for teachers from Sekolah Kebangasaan Ewa and Sekolah Kebangsaan Penghulu Ahmad.
Langkawi Plant Celebrates Hari Raya Aidiladha with Local Community
Our Langkawi team recently organised a Hari Raya Aidiladha celebration at the Langkawi Plant Housing Surau for 200 community members. 30 employees from the plant volunteered for the event, distributing 150 kg of meat to communities from across Teluk Yu, Ewa, Kampung Belibis, and Kubang Badak.
